Guide to root Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 LTE on Android 5.0 Lollipop

Steps to be followed

Step 1: Download the ODIN flashing tool and CF-Auto-Root package from the above downloads section to your PC.

Step 2: Unzip both the downloaded zip files to a folder on Desktop.

Step 3: Launch the ODIN setup file from the unzipped files.

Step 4: Turn off the Galaxy S4 and enter download mode in it. Don’t know how? Follow the below steps:

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold Home+Volume Down buttons.
  • Now press the Power button until you see the Android logo.
  • Now press Power button again to confirm

Step 5: Connect the Galaxy S4 to PC using an USB cable in download mode. The box under ID:COM turns yellow, which says the connection is successful.

Step 6: Once the connection is established, Click on PDA in ODIN flashing tool and choose the CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5 file from previously unzipped folder.

Step 7: Check Auto Reboot and F. Reset time if not checked previously.

Step 8: Once all the above steps are completed successfully, click on Start button in ODIN which starts the flashing process. Do not interrupt the process.

Step 9: After completion of installation the device reboots. The box under ID:COM turns green indicating the success of flashing. You can now disconnect the device after seeing the home screen.
