How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 didn’t received Android 5.0 Lollipop update. But you can still install Lollipop on Note 2 through Custom ROMs. To install custom ROMs, you should root Samsung Gaalxy Note 2 N7100.

Check Device Model Number

Steps To Be Considered

  • Enable USB debugging on the Samsung Galaxy Note which lets the device establish a stable connection with computer via USB. You can do it by following the below mentioned path.   • Rooting the device erase entire data on the device including internal SD card. So, make sure you create a backup of entire important data. If you are not familiar with Android backup process, you can refer our guide to Backup Android phone data.
  • Make sure the phone’s battery is at least 60% charged at the start up of tutorial. If battery runs off during unlocking process, it may turn your phone into brick. So, charge the device before tutorial.
  • If the device bootloader is locked, it is to be unlocked before rooting process. You cannot gain root access unless bootloader is unlocked.

How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Steps to be followed

Chainfire’s auto-root package has made the rooting process easier. We will be using ODIN flashing tool to root Galaxy Note 2 in this tutorial.

Step 1: Download CF-Auto-Root package and ODIN flashing tool from the downloads section to your PC.

Step 2: Create a new folder on desktop and unzip both the downloaded packages into it.

Step 3: Now enter download mode on Galaxy Note 2. Don’t know how? Do follow the below steps:

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold Home+Volume Down buttons.
  • Now press the Power button until you see the Android logo.
  • Now press Power button again to confirm

Step 4: Now launch the ODIN flashing tool by double-clicking ODIN Setup file from previously created folder.

Step 5: In download mode, connect the Galaxy Note to PC using USB cable. The ODIN should detect it. Once the device is detected, the box under ID:COM turns yellow indicating the successful connection.

Step 6: If the connection is successful, click on PDA button in ODIN and choose the CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5 file from the previously created folder. 

Step 7: Check Auto reboot and F. Reset time if not previously checked.

Step 8: Once done with all the above steps, click Start button in ODIN. Do not interrupt the installation process once it begins.

Step 9: After the installation is completed and successful, the box under ID:COM turns green. The Note 2 reboots automatically and you can disconnect the USB once the home screen appears.
